We Read the Studies So You Don’t Have To
Vitamins Women Guide exists because most supplement advice aimed at women over 50 is marketing wearing a lab coat. We wanted to build the opposite.
If you’re over 50 and you’ve ever stood in a supplement aisle feeling overwhelmed — or read a glowing review online and wondered who actually paid for it — this site was built for you.
You’ve probably noticed how the advice works. Everything is a miracle. Every study “proves” something. Nobody ever says a product doesn’t work, and nobody ever mentions when the research is thin. After a while you stop believing any of it, which is a completely reasonable response.
We think you deserve better than that. Not gentler marketing — actual information, including the parts that are inconvenient.
What We Do Differently
Every health claim on this site is traceable. When we say a supplement helps with something, we tell you which study found that, how many people were in it, how long it ran, and where you can read it yourself. Every guide ends with a section called Where We Got Our Information, listing our sources with links.
And — this is the part that makes us unusual — we publish the research that complicates our own recommendations.
We do that because the alternative is asking for your trust while withholding what you’d need to make a real decision. That isn’t a trade we’re willing to make.
Who Writes This
Vitamins Women Guide is an independent editorial project. We are researchers and writers, not doctors — and we think that’s important to say plainly.
It’s also exactly why we work the way we do. Because we can’t ask you to trust our clinical judgement, we show you the evidence instead. Every claim is sourced so you can verify it, disagree with it, or take it to your own doctor and ask about it.
“We’d rather tell you something true and slightly disappointing than something exciting and unproven. You’ve been sold enough already.”
Nothing here is medical advice, and nothing here replaces a conversation with your physician. If you take prescription medication, have a diagnosed condition, or are considering a significant change to your routine, please speak with a healthcare professional first. We say this in our guides too, and we mean it every time.
How This Site Stays Free
Everything here is free to read, and always will be. No paywall, no subscription, no “unlock the full guide.”
That’s possible because some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something through one of them, the retailer pays us a small commission — at no extra cost to you. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid anyway.
We’re telling you this openly because you deserve to know, and because it’s the context you need to weigh what you read here. We’d rather you hear it from us, plainly, than notice it yourself and wonder why we didn’t mention it.
Here’s the line we don’t cross, and we take it seriously: commission never decides merit.
You can check that against what’s actually on this site. We recommend the cheapest option when it’s the right one. We tell you when a product’s dose is too low to match the research it’s advertised against. We recommend sunscreen — one of the least profitable things on earth — as the single most important step for your skin. And when the evidence says something doesn’t work the way it’s marketed, we publish that, on the very page where staying quiet would earn us more.
If we ever recommended something because it paid better rather than because it was better, this whole site would be worth nothing — to you, and to us. That trade isn’t on the table.

Our Editorial Standards
Why Women Over 50
Because the wellness industry largely talks past you.
Most supplement research is conducted in younger adults, then marketed to everyone. Most articles are written for a general audience and then given a headline about menopause. And a great deal of what’s sold to women in midlife is built on the assumption that you’re mainly worried about how you look.
The biology of this stage of life is specific and real. Estrogen decline changes collagen synthesis, bone turnover, magnesium retention, sleep architecture and cardiovascular risk — measurably, and in ways that deserve to be explained properly rather than turned into a slogan.
What you’re experiencing is not weakness, and it isn’t in your head. It’s physiology. And you deserve information written for your actual body, not for a demographic someone invented in a marketing meeting.
What You Won’t Find Here
No miracle cures. No “one weird trick.” No before-and-after photos. No claims that a supplement will cure, treat or prevent a disease — because supplements can’t, and anyone telling you otherwise is either uninformed or hoping you are.
You also won’t find us pretending to certainty we don’t have. Sometimes the honest answer is “the research is mixed” or “we don’t know yet.” We’d rather write that than fill the gap with confident-sounding nonsense.
Talk to Us
If you spot an error, disagree with a conclusion, or think we’ve missed a study — please tell us. We’ve corrected guides before and we’ll do it again. That’s not a weakness in the process; it is the process.
You can reach us through our contact page. We read everything.
Start Where It Matters Most to You
